FHP: School bus collides with sedan in Clay County intersection

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — The According to Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) a school bus collided with a sedan Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of CR 209 and CR 315.

FHP reported that at around 4:20 p.m., where the school bus, which was driven by a 55-year-old woman, was exiting 3650 Russell Road and attempting to make a left turn onto County Road 209. The black sedan, driven by a 79-year-old man, was stopped in southbound traffic on County Road 209.

The driver of the school bus reportedly failed to yield the right of way after stopping at the stop sign and proceeded into the intersection, colliding with the right side of the sedan. Both vehicles were relocated to a nearby parking lot prior to the arrival of the FHP.

Four students were on board the school bus at the time of the accident, but thankfully no injuries were reported.

The driver of the sedan and his passenger, a 75-year-old woman, also escaped the incident unscathed.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, and child restraints were also in use on the school bus.

The FHP did not disclose if any charges have been filed against the school bus driver.
