St. Augustine, Fla. — UPDATE, 5:30 p.m., 7/20/2021: St. Augustine police said the charges against the trolley driver have been upgraded to reckless driving because of the bodily injury involved in the crash.
UPDATE, 5 p.m., 7/20/2021: St. Augustine police tell Action News Jax the trolley driver involved in Saturday’s crash that sent 12 people to the hospital was cited for careless driving.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and investigators will have a full report by the end of the week.

12 people were taken to local hospitals Saturday after a trolley overturned in St. Augustine’s Historic District, according to St. Augustine Fire Department.
St. Augustine police told Action News Jax reporter Ben Becker that the trolley turned on its side while making a turn for an unknown reason. Speed was not a factor in the crash and no citations have been issued.
A spokesperson with the City of St. Augustine told Becker that 7 injuries were minor and 3 were moderate.
The fire department said one was flown to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
