First Alert Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh says Jaguars first home game of season will be a hot one

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Many people will be coming in town for the Jags game this weekend but there are ways for them to avoid the heat.

Action News Jax First Alert Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh says the first home game of the season will be a hot one.

Temperatures are expected to be around 97 degrees on Sunday but it will feel more like the triple digits.

Action News Jax first reported during the first two home games last year when more than a dozen people were taken to a hospital but not all of those calls were necessarily heat related.

We checked with JTA about an hour ago and it did confirm they will have two cooling buses set up.

This is video from last year when they had the buses out for people.

Water stations will also be set up around the stadium to cool off.

The best advice to beat the heat at any Jags is to get to the stadium early and drink plenty of water before you come.

Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. Sunday.
