JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Here’s what the First Alert Weather Team said you can expect for the forecast:
- This afternoon temperatures are warm and humid in the 80s with a few inland-moving downpours and thunderstorms.
- Rain will remain spotty and hit-or-miss through the evening as activity moves well inland and ends near sunset.
- Tonight will be mild with lows in the 70s and a few morning coastal showers early Tuesday.
- Similar weather is expected Tuesday afternoon with a few inland moving downpours.
- Fall begins Tuesday.
- Late Wednesday, a cold front will sweep through our entire area, dropping temperatures, humidity and rain chances.
- The weekend looks like a beautiful, early-fall weekend across our area with temperatures cooler than average.
- Behind the front, winds will be gusty and seas/surf will be rough for a few days.
- The weekend will feature higher high tides thanks to onshore winds and the upcoming Harvest full moon.

Tropics:
- Tropical Storm Fay is quickly weakening, falling short of becoming the year’s first hurricane.
- A tropical wave will move off the coast of Africa later this week and could develop some, but is no threat to the U.S.
- Next name in the Atlantic is Gonzalo.
- In the eastern Pacific, a very busy season continues with rapidly intensifying Hurricane Polo, forecast to become a Category 5 storm offshore Mexico.
