First Alert Weather: Tracking a wet start to the week ahead of a cold front

Keep your umbrella handy. The First Alert Weather team is tracking rain and storms in the forecast ahead of a cold front that will move in this week.

On Monday, our area will remain cloudy with scattered showers and storms by midday and the afternoon, with activity slowly drifting from west to east toward the I-95 corridor and the beaches.

Flooding is a concern with the rain. First Alert Meteorologist Corey Simma says an Areal Flood Watch is in effect for St. Johns County through Tuesday night because of the potential for heavy rain Monday and Tuesday on very saturated ground. We will see scattered storms again Tuesday before the cold front moves through.

Simma says very nice weather is in store for the second half of the week!
