ST. AUGUSTINE — Officials have closed the Bridge of Lions in Historic St. Augustine over flooding caused by a nor’easter impacting Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia.

UPDATE 3:15 p.m.: Flooding has been cleared and the Bridge of Lions has reopened.

The storm has brought heavy rain, gusty winds, beach erosion, tidal flooding and high surf over the last 24 hours.

Officials have also closed King Street from Ponce De Leon to Malaga.

First Alert Chief Meteorologist Mike Buresh said Saturday morning that 2 to 6 inches of rain is expected in many areas―which he says is two to three times the average amount of rainfall in November.

The coast, Intracoastal, and St. Johns River and its tributaries are experiencing flooding due to the high tide at the time of heaviest rainfall.
