Sheriff Rick Ramsay canceled regular patrols because of the dangerous storm but evaluated the conditions outside and led a team to recover the body.
“We did not want to leave this man’s body out there and I saw a lull in the storm that would allow us to go out there and get it safely,” Ramsay said.
The Sheriff’s Office used a tow truck to quickly remove the truck and the body.
The Florida Highway Patrol will investigate the crash when it is safe to do so. It is unknown at this time if the crash was weather related or not.
