Former Nease teacher arrested on unlawful sexual activity charge

Dionne Marie Younce, the former Nease High teacher fired after she reportedly sent racy SnapChat images to students, was arrested Thursday on two counts of unlawful sexual activity with a certain minor.
Detectives with the Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Unit began an investigation into allegations of an inappropriate relation between the former Nease High School teacher and at least one student on January 20. That investigation revealed that a 17-year old male juvenile told detectives that he and the teacher had engaged in a sexual relationship on two occasions at her residence.
SVU Detectives questioned the victim and witnesses and obtained other evidence that led to obtaining and executing a search warrant at Younce’s apartment.
Based on the evidence obtained during this investigation, an arrest warrant was issued Thursday afternoon. Younce was booked into the County Jail on $200,000 bond.

Younce was initially suspended with pay per standard procedure pending the outcome of the investigation by the St. Johns County School District. The School Board confirmed at its February 9 meeting that Younce was fired.
