JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Lutheran Social Services of Northeast Florida will host a free grocery giveaway on Friday, Oct. 16, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Jacksonville’s Northside.
The event is open to any household in need.
The food distribution is part of LSS’s Shared Roots initiative, which brings fresh produce and pantry staples directly into neighborhoods experiencing high levels of food insecurity.

Laura Cook serves as the LSS program director overseeing the mobile pantries. “Food insecurity doesn’t always look the way people expect it to,” Cook said. “Many of our neighbors are working hard but still struggling to keep groceries on the table. Shared Roots allows us to meet families where they are and provide not just food, but dignity, care and connection.”
The distribution will take place at St. Paul Lutheran Church, located at 2730 Edgewood Ave. W.
