ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla — Families in a Fruit Cove neighborhood no longer have to worry about a potential gas station being built in front of their neighborhood.
"We all are just so excited that we prevailed," Cindy Dunlop, a resident of Fruit Cove Estates, said.
Action News Jax first told you when a plan was on the table to bring in a Daily's gas station and 24-hour convenience store in front of Fruit Cove.

We spoke with neighbors and then followed up with the Senior Project Planner, Lindsay Haga.
Haga told Action News Jax in a previous interview that the gas station would bring in about 25 jobs and would benefit the thousands of cars that pass by Fruit Cove Estates regularly.
The way the property—located off of State Road 13 near Otoes Place—is zoned it does not allow for gas pumps, which is what First Coast Energy wanted to change.
On Thursday, the St. Johns County Planning and Zoning Advisory Board denied the proposal to rezone the property in a 4-3 vote.

We asked for a comment from First Coast Energy, but they said they had nothing to say.
On the other hand, neighbors were very happy with the outcome.
"We have put countless hours into researching and stating our case and it worked out," Dunlop said.
She and several of her neighbors came prepared with stacks of papers from realtor companies, videos and worries about noise, traffic, drainage and pollution.
"It is not the right thing to do to have a gas station on top of our neighborhood," Dunlop added.
There is still a slight chance the gas station could be built.
On Nov. 7, The Board of County Commissioners gets a chance to decide whether or not to overturn the decision.
