FWC officer earns Wildlife Officer of the Year award

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — A local FWC officer is being recognized for his courage.

St. Johns County Officer Lee Lawshe has been named the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission Wildlife Officer of the Year.

Lawshe rescued a man missing in a swamp for days.

That's just one of his many accomplishments.

He also caught people illegally harvesting redfish, and taught hunter education to 3,000 people.

He received the recognition at the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies conference in Missouri.
