GAINESVILLE, Fla. — A man was arrested after he stole an iPhone and microwave oven from a Gainesville church and tried to sell one of the items to his boss, police said.
A pastor told police he saw a man run from United Church of Gainesville and noticed the phone and microwave were missing on Friday.
Church employees who were getting to work at the time also saw the man get into a burgundy Buick parked in the parking lot.
The Find My iPhone feature led investigators to County Boyz Auto Detailing, where officers found the Buick, which they later learned belongs to 36-year-old Christopher L. Dougan.
Officers found the iPhone in plain view in Dougan's car.
Dougan’s boss told police Dougan tried to sell him the stolen microwave oven.
When Dougan was arrested, they found a set of keys to the church in Dougan’s pockets.
Dougan was charged with burglary of an occupied structure, larceny petit theft and dealing in stolen property.
He is being held at the Alachua County Jail on a $57,000 bond.
