Georgia pastor Kenneth Adkins is behind bars in jail in Glynn County on child molestation charges.
Action News Jax was in court in September for his bond hearing, but four months later he has yet to be granted bond by a judge.
“We’re hoping that well get a ruling in the next week or two,” Adkins' attorney Kevin Gough said.
Gough said the judge considering Adkins motion for a bond is extremely busy.
“In the Georgia state court system, the judges basically have as much time as they need,” Gough said.
He said the judge is also handling all the criminal trials for the first of the year.
“However, for the position of Ken and his family, it’s an extreme hardship not to be able to get bond,” Gough said.
While Adkins is waiting for trial to start, his attorney said there are a lot of fees that will add up quickly.
“He not only needs an attorney spending a lot of time on his case, my guess, is that it will take at least 100 to 120 to 150 hours of attorney time,” said Gough.
Action News Jax saw posts on social media with a request from Adkins, saying, "I need 50 people to please consider sowing $200."
He asked it be sent to his attorney.
“He’s elected to have those donations to be sent directly to my office," Gough said. "Obviously that’s not my personal preference I’m not in the accounting business here were certainly not a collection agency."
Gough said if that’s what Adkins feels is best, he’s going to try and accommodate him.
