Ahmaud Arbery: Jury selection in murder trial picks back up Monday

BRUNSWICK, Ga. — Jury selection picks up again on Monday morning in the trial of three men accused of killing Ahmaud Arbery.

The process is going much slower than originally expected.

The judge said jury selection could still go on for another one or two weeks.

Attorneys have questioned over 80 people so far and are looking at at least 23 people as possible options.

On Friday, jury selection was put on pause after a lawyer on the defense cited a personal obligation.

Arbery’s family joined dozens of demonstrators as they marched through his neighborhood on Friday.

Last Thursday, the defense in the case argued that these supporters should not be allowed to stand outside the courthouse with banners saying “Justice for Ahmaud,” claiming it could influence the potential jurors.

Arbery’s father is fighting back.

“You know you ain’t got no win with this case. The evidence is too bad for you. So they’re doing every little thing to try to get a mistrial,” his father, Marcus Arbery, said.
