DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. — Florida Gov. Rick Scott awarded the Governor’s Veterans Service Award on Friday.
The awards were given out Friday morning at the 146th Expeditionary Signal Battalion on Normandy Boulevard.
Scott honored 160 veterans in Jacksonville for their service and sacrifice to the country.
“I couldn't believe it was really happening,” said Duane Reyelts, Navy WW II veteran.
More than 6,000 veterans have been honored with the award since Scott started handing out the honor.
“It means a lot because I served, and especially as a female vet,” said Anna Hansell-Tomas, an Air Force veteran.
