The Green Cove Springs Police Department are applauding the quick thinking of one of their own after she took took matters into her own hands to save an elderly man.
Police say Detective Vineyard was conducting a welfare check on a 93-year-old who had not been since since Monday.
Sensing the man was possibly in danger, GCSPD said Vineyard grabbed a sledgehammer and forced her way into the home through the garage door and discovered him on the floor.
The 93-year-old was transported to the hospital for treatment.
