JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The amount of home sales in one north Jacksonville neighborhood shows the housing market is making a comeback.
You don't have to go far along Heckscher Drive to see homes for sale. The Northeast Florida Association of Realtors said last year, nine homes were listed for sale there. This year, 27 are listed and five have already been purchased. More than 170 houses are for sale in the surrounding neighborhood.
"The market is starting to pick up. Prices are going back up so they figured it's a good time to sell it, so they've put theirs back on the market," said Sherry Martello, a realtor with Watson Realty.
Martello said the dredging project at JAXPORT may actually be good for the area by bringing in more potential homebuyers.
