Hurricane Irma devastated portions of Ponte Vedra Beach, leaving some families with no choice but to demolish their homes.
The Gray family has owned a home in South Ponte Vedra Beach since the 1970s.

Bill Gray bought the home as a getaway for him and his family. Year after year, weekend after weekend, they came together.
“We’ve had numerous birthdays and barbecues, all the holidays,” Gray said.
The family watched Tuesday as the house was torn down piece by piece.
Gray's daughter Pam reflected on the good times.

“I remember having my 18th birthday party here,” Pam Gray said.
Gray held back tears thinking of the precious moments he shared with his late wife Pat, whose ashes were spread in the ocean, just beyond where rubble now sits.
The family plans to build a new house.
