In contested Florida elections, overseas voter says ballot was returned

As local Supervisors of Elections are busy re-counting their ballots before this Thursday’s deadline, some overseas voters worry their votes won’t be counted.

One voter in Germany tells us he sent his ballot to the Duval County Supervisor of Elections, but it was returned.

Josh McGinnis says the return to sender label even indicated his vote made it to America on Oct. 23.

He says it’s the first time his ballot has been returned, but believes what happened to him may be happening to others.

“There’s nine million Americans living overseas right now, and we’d like to have our voices heard,” McGinnis said.

Duval County Elections Supervisor Mike Hogan tells us he hasn’t heard of any issues pertaining to overseas ballots.

Nearly 4,500 overseas ballots were sent out of Duval County this year. So far, 2,300 have been returned. The deadline for the Supervisor of Elections office to accept overseas ballots is Nov.16.

The United States Postal Service was not able to respond to our questions about this because of the Veteran’s Day holiday.
