JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A four-year-old boy has died after he was found unconscious at a residential pool, Jacksonville police said Thursday.
The boy's father identified the 4-year-old as Issmail Assil.

Police said the boy and another child made it into a gated closed community pool at the Preserve at St. Nicholas Apartments.

Police said maintenance workers managed to get to the children and perform CPR until paramedics arrived.
Assil was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead. A second child was also transported and is expected to be OK.
JSO is investigating how the children were able to get in the pool since the pool has been closed and locked for several months.
You can see the gate is locked, but if you push it forward there’s enough space for a small child to slip through. @ActionNewsJax pic.twitter.com/vPobu8bd5U

Tenants told Action News Jax that children get inside the pool, despite the lock.
"The pool has been closed, but the kids are always popping the gate. We see them over there playing, swimming in the pool," tenant, Nathan Manor said.
Action News Jax has reached out to the property management company, but it was after business hours. A follow up will be done Friday.
