JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Icemen announced schedule changes for their upcoming 10th-anniversary season on Thursday, setting a new opening night for Oct. 16. The team will host the South Carolina Stingrays at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena, with puck drop scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Icemen, an ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s Minnesota Wild and the AHL’s Iowa Wild, said the change is part of a broader schedule update affecting five home games. As a result of moving opening night, Jacksonville will no longer play a home game against the Atlanta Gladiators that was originally scheduled for Jan. Six.
Four other home games at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena have been rescheduled. A game against South Carolina originally scheduled for Nov. 10 has been moved to Jan. 24 at 3 p.m. The Jan. 20 contest against Savannah has been moved to Jan. 30 at 7 p.m. A Feb. 3 game against Florida was moved up to Dec. 9 at 7 p.m., while a Feb. 26 matchup against Kansas City was moved up to Feb. 24 at 7 p.m.The schedule adjustments also remove five road games for Jacksonville. Canceled away contests include a Nov. 22 game at Orlando, a Dec. 16 game at Florida and a Jan. 24 game at Florida. Road games at Atlanta on Jan. 30 and Jan. 31 have also been removed.
Three road games have been added to the schedule. The team will play at Savannah on Dec. 13 and Dec. 27, both at 3 p.m., and at South Carolina on April 2 at 7:05 p.m. Full and partial ticket plans are available by phone at 904-602-7825 or on the team website.
