A Jacksonville man was taken to a local hospital Thursday morning with serious injuries, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Officers said at approximately 1 a.m. Thursday, they received reports of gunshots heard at the Sonoma Southside Apartments off Southside Boulevard.
While responding to the scene, officers received additional calls about a person screaming for help.

When officers arrived, JSO said they found a man with "extensive injuries" to his head along with a trail of blood on the ground.
Police described the victim as a white man that is approximately 20 to 25 years old.
He is in critical condition, authorities said.
His identity has not been released at this time.
