Jacksonville officer buys man new bike tires, delivers them after his shift

A Jacksonville police officer bought a man new bike tires after he saw him riding down the road on just a back rim.

Officer Terrance Hightower recently saw the man, Alphonso Stacey, biking down the road without a back tire.

After his shift, he went to the store and purchased two new tires for Stacey's bike.

He went back to Stacey's house in his street clothes and gave him the new tires.

"Sometimes you just have to help someone," Hightower said. "He had no idea I was going back to his house later, after work, with two new tires for his bike."

"That meant a lot to me because he didn't have to he went out of his way to do something for a total stranger,” Stacey said. "What he did for me came from his heart."

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office applauded Hightower's actions on a Facebook post.

"We are so proud of you JSO Officer Hightower," the post said. "Helping others, out of your own pocket, to make their life easier. You are making a difference one day at a time."
