DNA and cellphone records led to a man's arrest more than two years after he killed a Jacksonville woman, officers said.
Sabrina Blackshear was found dead on Silver Street on May 20, 2015.
Detectives said she was shot in the chest. They found a used condom and shell casing at the scene and sent them to Florida Department of Law Enforcement for processing.
In August of that year, a group of suspects was taken into custody after a separate murder in St. Augustine. They were inside a stolen car.
Police said the stolen car and gun used in the murder belonged to Troy Butler, a convicted felon who lived in Jacksonville.
Police said he had reported his car stolen and was not involved with the St. Augustine murder. Butler told officers that the gun was inside his car.

Shell casings found at the St. Augustine murder scene matched the size of the casing found near Blackshear's body.
When police questioned Butler, he admitted to paying Blackshear for sex but denied killing her.
In November, DNA test results revealed Butler's DNA was on items found at Blackshear's murder scene.

FDLE determined the casing at Blackshear murder's scene matched the casing from Butler's gun found in St. Augustine.
In July, cellphone records confirmed Butler was on Silver Street the night Blackshear was killed.
Butler was arrested for murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
