The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating a traffic crash involving a pedestrian at Kings Road and Cleveland Street in the Newton neighborhood.
JSO said officers found a person hit by a car around 9 p.m.
The pedestrian was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries.
JSO said the person driving the car that struck the pedestrian is detained and is a habitual traffic offender.
