JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A 3-year-old boy was wandering alone Thursday at The Avenues Mall moments before a mother claimed someone tried to kidnap him, according to a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office police report.
Action News Jax first reported Thursday that JSO is looking to speak with the two people who found the child.
Investigators say they were called to a possible attempted kidnapping Thursday afternoon at The Avenues Mall.
The boy's mother said she saw an unknown woman holding her son's arm and walking away from the playground area, the report said.
The mother told police she grabbed her son's arm, "yanking him back from the unknown female," the report said.
After the mother grabbed her son back, she did not say anything or confront the female, the report said.
A mall employee and video showed the child was wandering alone beforehand.
A mall business owner said he saw an unknown woman and man walking with a child. He described them as follows:
A black female in her 20s with long, curly hair who was dressed in what appeared to be current Army employment fatigues (green camo and boots) and a black male in his early 20s with a muscular build wearing a gray T-shirt.
JSO is asking anyone with information about this incident or the identities of the pair described above to contact JSO at 904-630-0500.
