If you have a need for speed, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is warning you to beware, especially when driving on John Turner Butler Boulevard.

The Sheriff's Office is taking to social media to remind drivers of the importance of slowing down for your safety, and so you won't have to pay for a ticket.

Action News Jax's Courtney Cole spoke to some commuters who said this traffic safety intervention is necessary.

Visitors know this roadway as “Florida 202.”

    Locals call it JTB.

Regardless of how you refer to it, if you drive on it, the Sheriff's Office wants you to slow down.

On Wednesday, JSO posted two tweets letting drivers know JTB is one of the places they'll be watching closely, all day and all night.

If you drive the speed limit, you won't have to worry about getting a ticket from one of the #JSOmotormen.

Antoneta Cici said she drives on JTB every day to get to and from work.

“It’s pretty hectic. On a normal basis, people are driving crazy,” Cici said.

Cole wanted to see for herself what the traffic flow was like so she and her photographer drove eastbound on JTB and noticed people flying past as they drove the speed limit of 65 mph.

“I think it’ll bring more safety, decrease, you know more accidents and you know, people driving speedy and all that,” CiCi said.

Francis Mirmina told Action News Jax he doesn’t think special attention needs to be paid to JTB.

“I think if you just obey the rules of the road and you’re respectful of other people, you’ll be alright,” Mirmina said.

Action News Jax asked JSO how many warnings and citations it gave out today, but we’re still waiting to hear back.
