JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Fire Rescue responded to two fires at the AutoNation on Blanding Blvd. Monday evening.
The first was started by a lit cigarette in a flower bed that sent smoke into a side wall of the building.
Firefighters put that fire out and left the scene, but an hour later responded to more smoke coming from the roof.

“We had a little bit of embers somewhere inside that panel and there and there was no indication to us that that was there so we determined that the fire out was out the first time,” said Lieutenant Mike Perry.
JFRD says it is confident they handled the situation properly and that the proper checks were conducted before leaving the scene of the first fire.
