JSO says man shot multiple times, dead in apartment complex on Jacksonville’s Westside

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — UPDATE 5:37 p.m.: Around 1:25 p.m. Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to the Topaz Gardens apartment complex at 7350 Blanding Blvd. after 911 calls came in about gunfire that was heard.

Officers began canvassing the area and found a man between 30 and 35 years of age with multiple gunshot wounds. The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department pronounced him dead at the scene.

The body of the man was found outside the apartment building near a stairwell.

Witnesses that were interviewed said they heard gunfire but there was no other information that has lead to a suspect at this time. JSO is hoping that video at the complex and around Blanding Boulevard might be able to help the investigation.

At this time officials said that it’s too early in the investigation to tell if the deadly shooting was a random or targeted attack.

According to information released by JSO, the incident took place around 7300 Blanding Blvd. Sources also say that someone was shot to death and there’s no suspect information at this time.

There is a large police presence at the Topaz Gardens Complex. Several sections on the back half of the complex have police tape up.

Officials have said that a media briefing will be held around 5:00 p.m.
