Jacksonville man dies from head trauma after incident in home on Golfair Boulevard, police say

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A man is dead following an incident inside a home in the Moncrief neighborhood, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

Officers said they arrived at a house in the 1400 block of Golfair Boulevard Tuesday around 11:30 p.m. after receiving a battery and medical distress call.

The man inside the home was taken to a local hospital, where he died, according to JSO.

Further investigation revealed that the man suffered a head trauma. The man is likely in his 50s, JSO said.

Police said they have four people in custody who were inside the home at the time of the incident. Investigators are working to learn the relationship between the people inside the home and the deceased.

Evidence markers lined the front of the home as investigators continued their investigation. The number 6 marker was placed next to some Jordan flip-flops.

Around 5 a.m., police received a search warrant to go inside the home.Throughout the morning, investigators made their way inside the home, packing up evidence into brown bags and placing those bags inside the crime scene unit van.

They also combed the side of the house for evidence, focusing their attention on a blue car.

Family and friends of the victim stood by, embracing each other outside the home as police continued their investigation.

Ben Frazier with the Northside Coalition of Jacksonville, stopped by earlier Wednesday to speak with the family.

"Our concern and our prayers are for the victim of this latest crime, but there are many others and there will be many others to come."

A few feet away is  A. Philip Randolph Career Academics, one of Duval County’s magnet schools.

Family declined to go on camera, saying this is a "personal matter."
