JSO responds to two Saturday morning shootings

Jacksonville, FL. — Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to two separate shootings Saturday morning.

The first in an Arlington neighborhood around 7a.m., and the second on the westside.

Investigators said one person is dead at 1030 Arco Drive after a shooting early Saturday morning.

The victim, a black male, was pronounced dead at the scene.

JSO said they do not have information about the shooter, but warn the public the individual is considered armed and dangerous.

While officers couldn’t say yet whether the shooting was targeted, they do not believe there is any threat to the public.

Just hours later, JSO responded to a second reported shooting.

It happened at a workplace at the end of Stevens Street on the Westside.

Detectives said it was between two co-workers.

The suspect is in custody and the victim is at the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after getting shot in the arm.

JSO said there were other co-workers around at the time, but they were not hurt.

Action News Jax asked detectives the name of the workplace, but they would not tell us.

Action News Jax dug into records to find at least nine total shootings in the past week.

Two people are dead of the 12 total victims.

Some neighbors now call on the community to stop the violence.

“I’m reaching out — asking my brothers and sisters — let it go. Let go and let God. Enough is enough,” Tommy Lawrence Jr., an Arlington resident, said.
