Man missing for 1 week found dead in Sanderson area, Baker County deputies say

SANDERSON, Fla. — The Baker County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) said Tuesday afternoon a man was found dead after a large-scale ground and air search on Five Churches Road in Sanderson.

Dwayne Robinson, 60, had been missing since Tuesday, June 11 and was first reported missing on Thursday, which is when BCSO began searching for him.

Deputies had continued to search for Robinson on the ground every day since Thursday, BCSO said.

His body was “found in a heavily wooded area south of Five Churches Road,” BCSO said in an updated Facebook post.

No foul play is suspected in Robinson’s death at this time, deputies said.

In the effort to find him, BCSO was supported by multiple agencies, including the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO), Florida Highway Patrol’s (FHP) Aviation Unit, Jacksonville Fire & Rescue Department (JFRD) Urban Search & Rescue (USAR) teams, and K-9 units from the Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC).

BCSO said it is grateful for the assistance and resources provided by agencies from surrounding counties during Tuesday’s search. Rhoden asks the community to continue to pray for Robinson’s family during this difficult time.
