A 13-year-old Lavilla School of the Arts student reportedly was the source of a bomb threat that caused the Jacksonville school to be evacuated, JSO said in a report.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office investigated a bomb threat at Lavilla School of the Arts on Sept. 13. The threat was in the form of several Instagram posts on an account with the "lavilla.killer" username.
The photos included a hand holding a grenade and an image of the school with the word "BOMB" typed across it. Other images had disturbing messages from the user saying that the suspect will bomb the school at "12:00". The posts also listed names of some of the people "THAT HAVE TO DIE," the posts said.
JSO then forwarded this information to the Duval County Police Department. Officers arrived on the scene and evacuated the school. Bomb-sniffing dogs also arrived and sniffed the school grounds.
The operation went on before the start of school and ended when school was released.
JSO said they linked the person to the bomb-threatening account by contacting Instagram and tracing the account to the email of the user.
Authorities sent out a search warrant to the address of the user and confiscated electronic equipment, including an Apple iPhone that was used to create the account.
