JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville native comedian and actor Roland “Lil Duval” Powell is launching an independent direct-to-consumer tour and multi-platform release for his new horror-comedy film, “Camp Duval: Ain’t Nobody Dying Today,” starting this Thursday at Cinemark Tinseltown.
The Jacksonville launch marks the start of a six-city interactive premiere tour across the South and Midwest. The self-financed project bypasses traditional studio distribution, combining live screening events and a limited theatrical run with AMC Theatres ahead of a digital release on Oct. 31, according to a news release about the project.

Lil Duval executive produced and starred in the film through his imprint, Rich Broke Entertainment, in partnership with Swirl Films.
Swirl Films founder and Chief Executive Officer Eric Tomosunas explained that the team chose to fund the production independently to maintain ownership.
“Self-financing allowed us to retain complete control over the IP, the distribution and how we engage the audience for this film,” Tomosunas said in the release.

Lil Duval said taking on the role of executive producer was a natural progression for his career.
“I just wanted to make something that felt like me; funny, crazy, unexpected and something people can actually have a good time watching,” Lil Duval said in the release. “I’ve been entertaining people my whole career, so producing a movie felt like the next evolution. We made the movie, we made it our way and now we’re taking it straight to the people. That’s really what Camp Duval is about - having fun, doing it on your own terms and, most importantly, ain’t nobody dying today!”

The production team noted that the cast members command a combined social media reach of more than 45 million followers.
The interactive screening tour will feature red carpet arrivals, live DJ sets, merchandise sales and post-screening Q&A sessions with Powell and cast members. Following the Jacksonville opening at Cinemark Tinseltown on Thursday, the tour moves to Sun-Ray Cinema in Tampa on Sept. 17, Premiere Cinemas in Birmingham on Sept. 24, the Belcourt Theatre in Nashville on Oct. 8, Belair Luxury Cinema in Detroit on Oct. 15, and the Tara Theatre in Atlanta on Oct. 29.
Following the tour, the movie will enter a limited theatrical engagement with AMC Theatres before its direct-to-consumer digital release on Oct. 31, on Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video and CampDuval.com.
