JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The state university system’s Board of Governors on Thursday confirmed the appointment of Moez Limayem to serve as president of the University of North Florida.

Limayem, dean of the University of South Florida’s Muma College of Business since 2012, was selected in May by UNF trustees after a search. The appointment, however, remained subject to confirmation by the system’s Board of Governors.

Limayem’s 5-year contract will take effect Aug. 1, with an initial base annual salary of $500,000, according to information presented to the Board of Governors.

He also may be awarded $100,000 annual performance bonuses and will receive deferred compensation. Addressing the Board of Governors, Limayem described growing up in Tunisia and what he said was a “passion for student success.”

Before moving to the University of South Florida, Limayem served as associate dean for research and graduate programs at the University of Arkansas Sam M. Walton College of Business.
