Where to watch New Year’s Eve fireworks displays in Jacksonville and nearby areas

NORTHEAST FLORIDA — Say goodbye to 2021! Families and friends can celebrate the ringing in of a new year by checking out the fireworks shows local cities will put on for 2022.

In Jacksonville on New Year’s Eve, city officials said fireworks can be viewed downtown along the St. Johns River. The fireworks will launch from a barge between the Hyatt and DoubleTree hotels.

The show, which begins at midnight, can be seen from both the North and South banks, as well as from Brooklyn and under the Fuller Warren Bridge where the Riverside Arts Market is held.

The New Year’s Eve celebration at St. Augustine Beach will kick off at 8:30 p.m. Friday at the St. Johns County Ocean Pier. The “Light Up the Night! New Year’s Eve Fireworks Show” can be seen at spots along A1A Beach Boulevard: the St. Johns County Ocean Pier, A Street and 10th Street.

In Fernandina Beach, the city will host the annual New Year’s Shrimp Drop on Friday. The 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. event will have music, food trucks and commercial vendors. The shrimp will drop at 7 p.m., followed by a fireworks display. The event will take place at Front Street in downtown Fernandina Beach.
