FHP says Kavin Grant, 37, died after his vehicle was struck from behind by a white Dodge Avenger traveling eastbound on I-10, causing his car to run off the roadway into a ditch, hitting several trees.

Troopers say the driver of the Dodge Avenger was traveling at a higher rate of speed than Grant and failed to slow down.

That driver suffered minor injuries. Charges are pending, according to the FHP report.

Grant was well-known in the dance community in Jacksonville.  He was a former teacher at the Jacksonville Center of the Arts in Lavilla and was also the assistant professor of dance at Alabama State University.
