Man accused of hitting jogger on SR 206, fleeing arrested in Putnam County

A man accused of hitting a jogger then fleeing has been arrested in Putnam County.

Deputies said Jordan Michael Saylor hit a woman as she was jogging down SR 206 in St. Johns County two weeks ago.

According to the report, the woman hit was thrown into the grass.

Several car parts were found on the ground that helped lead deputies to Saylor's car.

A warrant for Saylor’s arrest was issued Tuesday and he was booked at the Putnam County jail shortly after.

“You’re not allowed in Florida to leave the scene of an accident when someone is injured," Action News Jax Law & Safety Expert Dale Carson said. "You have to render aid."

Action News Jax asked St. Johns County deputies how they connected Saylor to the case.

They said the victim’s family got a tip on social media and passed it along to deputies.

We found a post by a man who appears to be Saylor after the hit and run that said in part, “Wow this is crazy. Cops say I sideswiped a jogger I never even seen and if it was sorry to the person I never even knew it.”

That post has since been taken down.

“If it's proved that he posted it, any admission like that can be used against you in a criminal and civil case,” Carson said.

Saylor's bond was set at $4,500.

Saylor was also charged with having a suspended or revoked license.
