BRUNSWICK, Ga. — A man found guilty of a beating and stabbing death in Brunswick in 2025 was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
Brunswick Judicial Circuit District Attorney Keith Higgins said John Thomas Howard, 28 at the time of the crime, was found guilty of malice, felony murder for killing Ronald Carswell outside his home.
During a three-day trial, the state presented evidence that Howard attacked 57-year-old Carswell outside his home near Tillman Street and Gloucester Street.
The evidence incldued photos, video, witness testimony and forensic evidence. Witnesses testified Howard tried to flee the state hours afte the murder, Higgins said.
After the verdict, a judge sentenced Howard to life in prison without the possibility of parole.
“This type of lawlessness and senseless violence will not be tolerated, and this jury’s verdict should send (a) clear message,” Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney David Studdard said.
