JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Westside man claims the Aaron’s store off Edgewood Avenue sold him a mattress infested with bed bugs.
David McCoy says he and his wife starting itching soon after he bought the mattress in March. Since then, he says the problem has continued and he's started seeing bed bugs around the house.
When Action News arrived to check out the claims, there were dead -- and alive -- bed bugs on the mattress.

McCoy says Aaron’s sent an exterminator to check out the claim and determined the bed bugs didn’t come from the mattress. McCoy's issue? He says Aaron’s likely paid for the exterminator, so there's a conflict of interest.
Action News went to the Edgewood location for a comment from Aaron’s. The manager declined and referred us to the corporate office, which sent us this statement:"
"Want to protect our customers' privacy; therefore, we don't discuss specifics of our customers' accounts," Aaron's said in a statement.
Aaron's also sent Action News its quality control policy. In it, company notes that it is "Extremely difficult to determine the source of bedbugs."
Aaron's also said in its quality control policy that its partnership with Orkin is designed to assist with the issue:
"Aaron’s has partnered with Orkin, the nation’s largest pest control management company, who not only provides professional pest control management services for our stores, but their experts have reviewed and approved our Quality Assurance Program regarding bedbug inspection and treatment. Aaron’s Quality Assurance Program works."
