GLYNN COUNTY, Ga. — A Glynn County jury found Robert Alan Herndon guilty Wednesday of multiple felony sex crimes involving a minor, leading to a 50-year prison sentence followed by life on probation.

The conviction follows an investigation that began on June 4, 2024, when the victim, then an adult, reported to authorities that Herndon had sexually abused her starting in 2017, when she was 12 years old.

A Glynn County Superior Court jury returned guilty verdicts against Herndon on three counts of aggravated child molestation, one count of aggravated sexual battery and one count of incest.

Following the verdicts, a Glynn County Superior Court judge sentenced Herndon to 50 years in the Georgia Department of Corrections for each count, with the sentences to be served concurrently. Upon release from prison, Herndon will serve a life sentence on probation.

Investigator Sara DeMonbrun led the case for the Glynn County Sheriff’s Office after the initial report in June 2024. During the investigation, DeMonbrun gathered witness statements, documentary evidence, digital records and search-warrant returns. Deputies arrested Herndon on June 24, 2024 and served him with felony warrants as the probe continued.
