Man sitting on Atlantic Boulevard dies after being hit by car

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — On Feb. 23 at 9:30 p.m., a man who appeared to be impaired was sitting on the roadway at 8600 Atlantic Boulevard when he was struck by a vehicle.

According to Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, a witness said a couple of vehicles saw the pedestrian but swerved around him.

A third vehicle struck the man and left the scene.

Jacksonville Fire and Rescue pronounced the victim dead on the scene.

JSO Traffic Homicide detectives are conducting an investigation and attempting to identify all involved parties.

This would be the 29th traffic fatality this year in Duval County according to police.
