A man said he helped a man claiming to be from Jacksonville who was injured in the mass shooting at an Orlando nightclub.
Luis Burbano said was just feet away from the gunman began firing during the shooting at LGBT club Pulse early Sunday morning. He talked to Action News Jax's Paige Kelton about helping the man, who said his name was Fred:
"I got separated from my best friend momentarily and see this young, low to mid-20s, I think he said he was 25, year-old guy, Fred, collapsed on the floor. And I didn't see what was wrong with him. I said 'get up, get up, are you kidding me, let's go' and I just picked him up and dragged him. Unbeknownst to me, his arm, his whole arm was split in two, and then he also had a gash on his side. And then I instantly took off my shirt, did a tourniquet, tied up his arm ... put pressure on his side. He was saying he was losing a lot of blood, losing a lot of blood. But he wasn't losing consciousness. I saw it in his eyes. He was still alert."
Burbano started to get more emotional as he spoke to Paige Kelton and had survivor's remorse, asking questions such as, "why was I able to get out when others weren't?"
