Marion police serving warrant find stash of drugs; baby bassinet observed near heroin

MARION COUNTY, Fla. — The Marion County Sheriff’s Office recovered nearly $40,000 from a house in which marijuana was reportedly being grown outside a house in Ocala.

Detectives from the Fugitive Apprehension Unit arrived at the house in the 3800 block of 16th Avenue for a warrant check and smelled a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the house.

Police said, detectives responded and executed a search warrant of the residence and found six marijuana plants inside the house, 200 grams of cocaine, 37 grams of heroin, and multiple narcotic pills. Authorities also discovered 54 marijuana plants were also found in a shed on the property. They also located a .25 caliber semi-automatic pistol reported stolen in 2011 and seized $38,600 in cash, officials said.

Two people in the house were arrested: Andrew Eden, 28, and his 29-year-old live-in girlfriend, Victoria Thurow.

The authorities said four children lived in the house, ages from infant to 4-years-old. The marijuana plants located inside the residence were less than two feet from a children's bed in their bedroom, and heroin and cocaine was located within three feet of one of the children's bassinet.

The children have been placed in the care of family members and the Department of Children and Families has been notified.
