ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — Florida Water Tours announces its Moonlit Mysteries: Haunted History Boat Tour will return to St. Augustine on Sept. 26. The 75-minute nighttime excursion features historical ghost stories tied to the city’s 460-year history.
The boat tour operates on select Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays through Nov. 14. Tickets cost $39 per person for passengers ages 13 and older.
The tour covers lore associated with local landmarks, including the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument and the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum. Storylines include a July 10, 1873, incident on the lighthouse grounds where three young girls died after a construction cart flipped into the water. Staff, visitors, past keepers, and local artisans have reported unexplainable occurrences and apparitions on the property in the decades since.
Jessica Jadick is the owner of Florida Water Tours. Jadick noted the experience of navigating the local waters at night while reflecting on the area’s history.
“In a city with centuries of history, there’s no shortage of spooky stories to tell,” Jadick said. “We love this trip because it’s so cool to be out on the water after dark – I mean, can you imagine navigating these waters before GPS, before channel markers, before lighthouses, using the stars? Pair that feeling with our historical stories, and it really takes you back and makes you think.”
The tours take place aboard the vessels Great Blue Heron and Osprey. Both feature an onboard bar with alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks available for purchase. Passengers may bring their own snacks or purchase treat boxes prepared by Floating Food Company, the tour operator’s in-house catering provider.
Departures begin after sunset, with exact times varying by season through Nov. 14. Cruise schedules and booking information are published on the Florida Water Tours website.
