Mother and son found dead in murder-suicide, St. Marys Police say

ST. MARYS, Ga. — A mother and son were found dead in St. Marys and investigators believe it was a murder-suicide.

According to the St. Marys Police Department, on Thurs. Feb. 3, police responded to a call of a possible shooting at the Hidden Bay Apartments on Harbor Pines Dr.

Police met a witness outside who claimed to be coworkers with the resident of the apartment and had driven over to check on him after he didn’t show up for work that morning and couldn’t be reached on his phone. The witness reportedly knocked on the door and after not receiving an answer, looked into a window and saw him lying on the floor.

Two people were found inside the home—each suffered one fatal gunshot wound. SMPD has identified the victims as Bonnie Coker, 54, and her son Eric Boswell, 24.

A handgun was recovered at the scene.
