ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — The Florida Highway Patrol says John Miller III, 62, died from injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash in St. Johns County Friday.
The single-motorcycle crash happened in the 7000 block of Longleaf Pine Parkway just before 2:30 p.m., according to St. Johns County Fire Rescue.
FHP says John Miller and 58-year-old Maria Miller were traveling north on Longleaf Pine Parkway on a 1998 Honda Valkyrie motorcycle.
A report says the motorcycle struck the raised center median causing the motorcycle to cross over the median and enter southbound lanes. Both John Miller and Maria Miller were thrown from the motorcycle, according to FHP.
John Miller was transported to UF Health Jacksonville where FHP says he was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.
Maria Miller was taken to Baptist South with serious injuries. Both Millers were wearing helmets, according to an FHP report.
