There’s only one skate park in Fernandina Beach.
It’s coming up on its 10th anniversary and neighbors say it’s time for an upgrade.
“You get about 20 kids in this park and they can’t do their runs or do what they need to be doing,” said the president of Friends of Fernandina, Terri Oliver.
Oliver knows how important this park is to kids, keeping them busy and off the streets in the summer.

That’s why she says an expansion and improvement is necessary.
“We’re going to have a concrete park here now,” said Oliver.
“There’s a nice pool there that I can do drop ins and stuff and go back and forth,” said skater Anthony Perrone.
Oliver says the new park would cost around $500,000.
So far they've raised about $5,000 and have set up a GoFundMe page.
