New City Council timeline on Lot J Legislation

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — There is now a new timeline for the Lot J Project and City Council’s legislation on it.

Originally, the legislation was to be discussed by City Council this past Tuesday, but due to COVID-19 cases in the council, that has since been pushed back.

The new timeline will start next week, according to a Memo sent Thursday by Council President Tommy Hazouri.

There will be a Committee of the Whole meeting this upcoming Thursday, Nov. 19, at 5 p.m. to (approximately) 8 p.m. During this meeting, council members can propose any amendments they want to the legislation.

One council member has already publicly said they want to make an amendment to the Lot J legislation. Council Member Matt Carlucci said that he wants to strike the waivers that have excluded the DIA from the review of the Lot J development agreement.

A public hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 24 during a regular City Council meeting. An additional Committee of the Whole meeting will take place on Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

On that meeting, if the council feels comfortable to do so, they can recommend to move forward with a vote on Dec. 8, during a regular City Council meeting.
