Oldest ice cream shop in Jacksonville celebrates ‘Best of Florida’ win with $1 treats

Dreamette

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Dreamette has been voted the best ice cream parlor in Florida, according to results published by guidetoflorida.com.

To celebrate, the historic Jacksonville shop is offering $1 small cones all weekend. Customers can get a small vanilla, chocolate, strawberry or swirl cone for $1 on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 29-30.

The deal is available at Dreamette’s seven Jacksonville-area locations: Murray Hill, San Marco, Atlantic Beach, Orange Park, Dinsmore, Aberdeen and Middleburg.

Dreamette traces its roots to 1948, when it opened in Jacksonville’s Murray Hill neighborhood as “Creamette.” The shop changed its name to Dreamette in 1969 and is recognized as the oldest ice cream shop in Jacksonville.

The parlor still uses recipes from its original Murray Hill location alongside newer additions, and accepts credit and debit cards as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay.
